This incredible 1908 “No Motto” Indian Head gold coin is crafted from .900 finesse (21K) gold and set in a 14K gold bail. The translucent enameling was done in the early 1900s, definitely before 1920 when it became illegal to deliberately mutilate coins or use them as anything other than currency. Can you imagine outlawing this beauty? Unlike paint, the enamel is made from colored glass, giving it an unmatched translucency and glow. “No Motto” refers to the absence of the “In God We Trust” motto, which was added after 1908 following public demand. This pendant is a rare combination of art, history, and jewelry, preserved in exquisite condition. It’s a true conversation piece. Measuring 1.75 inches long with bail, 1.25 inches wide, and weighing 24.42 grams total, it has substantial presence and weight.
